College is a special time of great change and learning. Not only do we learn in the classroom, but we learn about ourselves and others. We learn about our capabilities and potential. We overcome immeasurable fatigue and sleep-depravation. Right now, many of us are more driven to do something great with our lives when we graduate than any other time in our lives so far.

5 Life Lessons From College So Far:

You Are So Much Stronger Than You Give Yourself Credit

Look at where you are now, and compare it to where you were last year. I know there were moments where you have met rejection and disapproval, and it stings and sucks. But is that still affecting you today? Probably not, so acknowledge that.

We Are All Worthy Of Achieving Greatness

In college you start finding your passions, and what avenues you want to explore post-graduation. I grew up studying dance, I am in college getting my BFA in Dance, and I want to be a professional dancer. But, I have realized that I can also explore everything I am interested in. This summer, I read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, and it reminded me that with hard, mindful work we can all be successful. If you have multiple passions pulling at you, then I say, go for all of them. Find a way to make them work together; when there is a will there is a way!

Have A Plan/Have A Vision

It helps to have a plan for your future or a vision. To have an idea what you are working towards from day to day. It gives your days meaning, so you don’t feel like you are aimlessly gliding through life. Spoiler Alert: It might change, and be flexible to change. Just a year ago, creating a blog was not a part of my plan. Now, it is a great passion that is in my 5-year plan.

Believe in Yourself/Be Your Biggest Cheerleader

Know Your Worth! There is a level of confidence and pride in who I am and what I am capable of that I have acquired in college. It is so important to completely believe in yourself because that is what helps you overcome rejection.

Keep a small circle

If there is anything, I’ve learned in college, it is this: to keep a small supportive circle. What has helped me become my biggest cheerleader, is to find amazing uplifting friends who believed in me. Most of my friends share similar passions and values that I do, so we push each other forward to do great things.

I was literally crossing the street when I smile crossed my face, and I realized despite how tiring my college days have been, I have grown so much. I am excited to embark on the next stage of my life post graduation. There is still so much to learn, but I feel like I am on the right path.

I fell in love with both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler back in 2004, when they delivered us Mean Girls. Then fell in love with Tina Fey all over again in her book, Bossy Pants* which I strongly recommend if you haven't read it!  Sisters* is now On Demand if you have the HBO app (woot woot!) and I HIGHLY recommend you watch this movie. Seriously, I could not stop laughing. Not gunna lie... this post is a bit of a stretch. I had to seriously think about these life lessons.
